Chinese tourists are expected to flock to Jeju Island this weekend during the Chuseok holiday.

Forty-thousand Chinese tourists are projected to visit the island from Saturday during China’s harvest festival holiday and the ensuing national foundation holiday.

This is a record-high figure, up 60 percent from 2011. All rooms at Jeju hotels have been booked and many are reserved into the days following the end of Chuseok.

The reservation rate of direct flights between Jeju and China and flights connecting the two places via Incheon or Gimpo airports has surpassed 90 percent thanks to the large number of Chinese tourists visiting the nation’s southernmost island.

The reservation rate for rental cars has also reached 80 percent.
