The 49th General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) has wrapped up eight days of talks and events in Seoul.
On the last day of the general assembly on Wednesday, media experts, including officials from the BBC and Google, attended a forum entitled the “Super Panel Session” to discuss how the digital media era has changed the lives of viewers and what directions to take in order to develop the broadcasting industry.
Media professionals also held a session to discuss changes and prospects in broadcasting news in the era of smart media.
In the plenary session on Tuesday, the ABU adopted the Seoul Declaration, vowing efforts to expand public knowledge and understanding about the benefits of the digital era.
The declaration includes a request that after the switch from analogue to digital broadcasting, frequency bands which are currently occupied by analogue channels will be preferably allocated to terrestrial broadcasters to best serve the public interest.
