South Korean film “Gwanghae: The Man Who Became King” received more than ten-million viewers as of Saturday.

According to the movie’s distributor, the film received an audience of roughly 180-thousand on October 20th alone and as of 8 p.m. that day, the accumulated number of viewers reached 10-million-248.

The movie, which is internationally titled “Masquerade,” is now the second highest grossing film this year after “The Thieves” and among the seven South Korean movies to have received an audience of over ten-million.

It was also the first time for two movies to have had such large audiences in a single year.

The film’s success, which has been deemed unusual as fall is usually a dry spell for theaters, has been attributed to a deep plot and strong performances by the actors.
