Wife of NK Leader Makes First Public Appearance in 50 Days

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s wife, Ri Sol-ju, has appeared in public for the first time in some 50 days.

The North’s state-run Korean Central News Agency said Tuesday that Ri appeared alongside her husband at a performance of the Pyongyang Moranbong Art Troupe that was held on Monday to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Kim Il-sung Military University.

Ri began appearing in public with her husband in early July but had not been seen until Monday since September eighth.

Some observers speculated that Ri disappeared from the public eye since she was pregnant or due to animosity among senior military officials about her active sightings with Kim Jong-un.
