An increasing number of French news media are using the name East Sea in stead of Sea of Japan when they put the name of the sea located on the eastern part of Korea. The Le Monde Diplomatique, a sister paper of Le Monde newspaper, used the name East Sea first in its new year book, titled "Le Monde Diplomatique Atlas" by using the name Sea of Japan in parenthesis. Other French papers including Liberation, Les Echos, Le Figaro, and GEO started using the sea name East Sea first.
