No. of Foreign Tourists Tops One Million in March

The number of foreign tourists to South Korea topped one million last month despite heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

The Korea National Tourism Organization (KNTO) said on Tuesday that the number of foreign tourists increased eleven percent on-year to one-point-02 million in March.

This is the fourth time that the monthly figure topped the one million mark after July, August, and October of last year.

The number of Chinese travelers posted 280-thousand last month, up 55 percent year-on-year, while those from Singapore and Thailand increased 28 percent and eleven percent, respectively.

Japanese tourists dropped 20 percent on-year last month, but the decrease slowed compared to the previous month.
