A survey by an internet portal firm NHN Corp. showed Friday over half of netizens have no plans to visit their hometowns during the Lunar New Year holidays which begins on Jan. 31st. Of a total 8,464 adult respondents, 52.7 percent said they will not go to their hometowns this year mainly due to shorter holidays compared with other years. The ratio was little higher than 50.9 percent surveyed for the last Chuseok holidays. The Lunar New Year and Chuseok are the greatest traditional holidays for Koreans, creating a huge exodus of people visiting their hometowns. Asked what is the most stressful about the holidays, 56.0 percent of netizens said the "financial burden," while 24.2 percent pointed out "congestion" and 13.2 percent answered "preparation works for the New Year's day ceremony."
