The inside of the main hall at Changdeok Palace has been opened to the public for the first time in history. Changdeok Palace is on UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage list and one of South Korea's national treasures.

The king and government officials discussed state affairs at Injeongjeon in Changdeok Palace during the Joseon Dynasty.

Every object inside Injeongjeon, from the king’s throne to golden, majestic decorations and to the chandeliers, lets visitors travel back in time.

People can rent out pavilions at old palaces for their private gatherings. The pavilions are Jipgyeongdang and Hamhwadang at Gyeongbok Palace and Gajeongdang at Changdeok Palace.

Inquiries for reservations are pouring in, as the rental of the historical relics began this month.

The opening of the palaces offers glimpses into the hidden, unknown lives of the past royal family.
