Vietnamese media report North Korea has confirmed it has the responsibility to guarantee the life and assets of foreign embassy personnel in North Korea.

Vietnam’s daily newspaper Tuoi Tre reported that Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry got North Korea’s promise to protect Vietnamese citizens in North Korea, after asking the North Korean embassy in Hanoi to carry out measures to protect them.

The Vietnamese Foreign Ministry said that a North Korean diplomat confirmed that Pyongyang has the responsibility to guarantee the safety of foreign embassy and international organizations' personnel under the Vienna Convention.
