Pyeongyang remains very calm and peaceful and no embassy there has abandoned or has any plans to evacuate the city, foreign diplomats based there said.

Roberto Colin, Brazilian ambassador to North Korea based in Pyeongyang, told Japan’s Asahi Shimbun during a telephone interview that he considers it very unlikely for the U.S. to attack Pyeongyang and said other diplomats feel the same way and have decided to stay in the city.

A Nigerian official working at the country’s embassy in Pyeongyang said the city is very quiet and there was nothing to suggest that war tensions were rising. The official also said there were no reservists or citizens wearing military uniforms in the city, unlike during the 1993 U.S.-South Korea Team Spirit military exercises when North Korea told foreigners to leave.

Workers at the Indonesian embassy said a delegation from their home country arrived in North Korea for the birthday of Kim Il-sung and said none of the embassy’s workers or their families has left for home.
