Park Expresses Regret over Pyongyang's Refusal for Talks

President Park Geun-hye says North Korea's refusal of South Korea's proposal for dialogue is very regrettable.

Presidential senior secretary for foreign affairs and security Ju Chul-ki on Sunday cited the president as saying that South Korean businesses that joined the Gaeseong Industrial Complex under the trust of inter-Korean agreements are now suffering.

The president also criticized North Korea's ban on food product delivery into the complex, saying it cannot happen on humanitarian grounds.

Park's remark is in response to the statement made earlier that day by North Korea's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland that called Seoul's proposed talks a "crafty trick."

The top office's National Security Office held a meeting with related agencies and concluded that by its statement, the North has rejected Seoul's proposal for talks.

The presidential office said the president intended to publicize Seoul's stance on the issue as North Korea is regarding South Korea's sincere proposal in an insincere way.
