South Monitors Possible Short-range Missile Launch by N. Korea

The South Korean military says there is no imminent sign that the North will launch the Musudan missile that it had deployed to the east coast earlier.

An official said the military has never detected intelligence that the missile was erected on the launch vehicle.

The official said the South maintains close tabs on North Korean military moves as the communist state in a surprise move could test-fire its short-range missiles such as the Scud or the KN-02 around Monday April 15th, the celebrated birthday of North Korean founder Kim Il-sung.

Military authorities in South Korea and the U.S. are monitoring the North's missile movements, mobilizing all intelligence assets including defense satellites, the Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C), and Aegis ships.
