Education minister Seo Nam-soo said on Sunday the government was reviewing the entire college entrance process in South Korea.
The minister, who spoke on a television show on KBS, said the ministry was looking over the college entrance system South Korean students pass through to enter university.
Seo said many factors were in close relations with each other, including the college entrance exam, writing tests and the admissions officer system. The minister explained that changing one would affect other factors and possibly cause problems.
The minister explained the government was mulling over a complementary measure for the selective parts of the college entrance exam that he said have complicated the system.
Seo added a simpler measure of college entry would be announced near August, which will focus on early entrance based on school records and or writing skills, and regular entrance based on the incumbent entrance exam.
