Gov't Aims to Reduce No. of Students per Class by 2020

The Ministry of Education has launched a fact-finding survey as part of efforts to cut class sizes in schools by 2020.

The ministry said on Monday that it will survey all elementary, middle and high schools by May 15th on changes in student enrollment with plans to reduce class sizes.

The ministry aims to reduce the number of students per class from 24-point-three to 21 in elementary schools and from around 32 to 23 in middle and high schools by 2020.

Based on the survey results and a plan set to come out in June on the supply and demand for teachers, the ministry will devise detailed plans to reduce the number of students per class.
