N. Korean Cabinet Holds Extended Meeting, Discusses Sanctions

North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency says the North’s Cabinet discussed responses to the international community's sanctions against Pyongyang.

The news agency said Monday that participants of an extended meeting discussed proposals laid out by leader Kim Jong-un last month that call for simultaneously pursuing the development of the North’s nuclear capabilities and its economy. Participants also evaluated its economic policies for the first quarter, and discussed plans for the second quarter and ways to boost its light industry.

In particular, the report said that the Cabinet also outlined policies that can improve the country's economic exchanges with the rest of the world.

The meeting also discussed ways to drastically improve people’s lives through building a strong economic nation and to concentrate capabilities on agricultural and light industries to bolster the country’s economy.
