N. Korea Claims S. Korea, US Aim to Invade North

The newspaper of North Korea's ruling Workers' Party says calls to delay the transfer of wartime operational control from the U.S. to South Korea in 2015 are aimed at realizing the ambition to invade the North.

The Rodong Sinmun claimed Wednesday that South Korea is seeking to further strengthen its combat capability against a threat that does not even exist, and to join hands with an invasive foreign power to eventually carry out an invasion of North Korea.

The paper said the South Korea-U.S. Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint exercises also aim for this goal.

It justified Pyongyang's nuclear weapons possession saying the two countries are strengthening their cooperation in seeking to invade North Korea.

The newspaper also urged workers in the munition sector to increase production of smaller, more sophisticated nuclear weapons and carriers to transport them. It encouraged workers to more aggressively develop stronger nuclear weaponry.
