Son, participating in the World Cup being held in Sofia, Bulgaria, scored over 17 points in the events for the ball, hoop, club and ribbon and reached the finals for all four events.

Son scored an aggregate of 70.6 in the overall individual competition, ranking fourth at a category-A World Cup for the first time.

She ranked first in hoop with the score of 17.800, improving her prospects for a medal.
