Recipients of this year’s Sejong Cultural Awards have been announced.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that five individuals and one organization will be honored as Sejong Cultural Awardees this year.

They include former U.S. ambassador to South Korea Kathleen Stephens, former art director of the Korea National Ballet Park In-ja, the couple of actor Cha In-pyo and actress Shin Ae-ra, and the Daum Foundation.

Launched in 1982, the Sejong Cultural Awards are given to those who have contributed to promoting the Korean culture in honor of Great King Sejong's achievment of creating Hangul, the Korean alphabet.
