Korean Pop Culture Driving Foreigners to Learn Korean

A survey shows that a large percentage of foreigners study the Korean language because of their interest in Korean pop culture.

Of the two-thousand foreigners studying Korean that were polled by the King Sejong Institute Foundation, 33-point-seven percent said their interest in Korean pop culture drove them to study the language.

The second largest number of respondents at 19-point-three percent said they are studying so they can work at Korean companies.

More than 95 percent said, “Yes,” when asked if they are satisfied with Korean language programs provided by the Korean language institute Sejong Hakdang.

Currently, 90 Sejong Hakdang schools are teaching the Korean language and culture in 44 countries.
