Yanbian Travel Agencies Resume Tours to N.Korea

Travel agencies in a border city in China’s northeastern Jilin Province have resumed tours to North Korea a month after suspension.

Tourism officials in Yanbian, Jilin Province said that they have begun to receive reservations for trips to North Korean regions, including the North’s Rason Special Economic Zone.

A travel agency official in Yanbian said that China’s tourism department notified travel agencies that they are allowed to send tourists to the North.

Travel agencies in the border city Dandong in Liaoning Province in China also recently resumed receiving reservations for train tours going to Pyongyang, Mount Myohyang, and Gaeseong.

Travel agencies in those Chinese border areas halted tours to the North according to the direction of local tourism bureaus on April tenth.
