Government Officials Visit Gaeseong Firms for a Briefing on Losses

Government officials visited companies that have operations at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea to help them file reports on losses caused by the suspended operation at the complex.

The Ministry of Unification and other government agencies in charge met with the officials of the Gaeseong firms based in Seoul on Monday morning for a briefing on how to file reports on damages and losses.

An official said the government will continue to visit Gaeseong firms in other regions until Wednesday.

The unification ministry said that 59 out of 123 firms that have factories in Gaeseong have submitted loss reports so far. Thirty-one-point-five billion won was pulled from the inter-Korean cooperation fund to provide 41 companies with emergency relief loans.

The inter-Korean facility has been temporarily shut down, and all South Koreans have left the complex as of May 3rd.
