North Korea Reiterates Intent for Dialogue

North Korea’s special envoy to China reiterated to a senior Chinese military official Friday that Pyongyang hopes to resolve issues through dialogue with relevant parties.

Chinese media report the North’s Vice Marshall Choe Ryong-hae made the remarks during a meeting in Beijing with Vice Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party Central Military Commission Fan Changlong.

Fan responded that China hopes relevant parties maintain the goal of realizing a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula. He also expressed Beijing's position that all sides should seek dialogue and negotiations.

The Chinese official pointed out that the North's nuclear issues continue to raise tensions on the Korean Peninsula, and relevant parties' strategic interests collided to threaten peace and stability in the region.
