US Expert: N. Korea Continues to Support Terrorist Groups

A U.S. expert on Korea says North Korea has continued to provide military support to terrorist organizations worldwide since Kim Jong-un took power.

Bruce Bechtol, an assistant professor at Angelo State University, made the remark during a seminar organized by the Heritage Foundation in Washington on Wednesday.

Bechtol, who served as a senior intelligence analyst at the Defense Intelligence Agency, said the North is supporting terrorism around the world.

Bechtol said the North is supplying weapons to various countries and terrorist organizations via a network established during the Cold War, adding that Hezbollah and Al-Qaeda are among those receiving support.

He also claimed that around 100 Hezbollah commanders received military training in the North in 2007 and that the North built large-scale underground facilities for the group.
