North Korea is said to be producing lapel badges engraved with pictures of its leader Kim Jong-un.

Chinese sources familiar with North Korean affairs said that some people were spotted wearing Kim Jong-un badges in Pyongyang from last month. The sources added that they are mainly senior officials of the North Korean regime.

Analysts say that the distribution of the badges reflects Kim Jong-un’s confidence in his leadership, which was strengthened through a long-range missile launch last December and a nuclear test in February this year.

North Korean embassies overseas are intensifying the cult of personality around Kim Jong-un by replacing photos of his grandfather and father with photos of him.
