The South Korean government has proposed working-level talks with North Korea on the south side of the truce village of Panmunjeom at 10 a.m. this Sunday.

Seoul's Unification Minister Ryoo Kihl-jae made the counteroffer in a telephone message to the North's Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yang-gon.

The latest communication was made at 4:05 p.m. Friday through the Red Cross hotline following its restoration earlier in the day.

North Korea experts say that the two sides are expected to discuss the possibility of holding ministerial-level talks which the South proposed on Thursday.

Pyongyang on Thursday offered to hold talks between the two Korea's governments. Later in the day, Seoul made its initial counteroffer to hold a ministerial-level meeting in Seoul on Wednesday next week. Earlier on Friday, Pyongyang responded to Seoul, suggesting to hold a working-level meeting in Gaeseong on Sunday.
