Chief delegates of the two Koreas are struggling to finalize details of a ministerial-level meeting to be held this week.
Seoul's chief delegate Chun Hae-sung and his North Korean counterpart Kim Song-hye held a series of failed one-on-one sessions on Sunday at the truce village of Panmunjeom.
The two are said to be working on narrowing gaps while fine-tuning the agenda and size of the delegation for the envisioned ministerial talks.
The two Korea's three-member delegations sat down for a 45-minute meeting in the morning, and after a recess, the chief delegates held their first one-on-one session which wrapped up at 3 p.m.
The talks on Sunday mark the first time for the two Koreas to hold an official governmental meeting since 2011 when their nuclear negotiators met in Beijing in September of that year. Also in 2011, military officials of the two Koreas met to discuss issues related to the North's sinking of a South Korean warship.
