Opposition Party Hopes for South, North Political Reconciliation

The main opposition party leader says he hopes the inter-Korean government meeting this week helps spur cooperation between the two Koreas and leads to political and military reconciliation.

Democratic Party Chairman Kim Han-gil said at the party's supreme council meeting Monday that now is the time for South and North Korea to swallow their pride and establish a consensus as a community sharing a common destiny.

Kim proposed the creation of a consultative body for the establishment of a peace regime composed of peninsula relations experts from inside and outside the party to open an era of cooperation between the South and North.
