S. Korea Edges Uzbekistan 1-0 in World Cup Qualifier

South Korea beat Uzbekistan 1-0 in their Group A Asian qualifying soccer match for the 2014 World Cup.

South Korea secured the winning point from an own goal by Uzbehkistan's Akmal Shorahmedov 43 minutes into the first half during the match in Seoul Tuesday.

The win brings South Korea’s point total to 14 and places the team at the top of Group A, significantly raising its chance of making it to the 2014 World Cup.

In another Group A match, Iran defeated Labanon 4-0 to rank second in the group.

South Korea will make it to the 2014 World Cup with at least a draw against Iran in its final game in Group A on June 18th in Ulsan, South Korea.

In Group B, Japan beat Iraq 1-0 to rank top in the group while Australia ranked second after defeating Jordan 4-0.
