President Kim Dae-jung instructed the government Monday to normalize Internet services as quickly as possible and take steps to prevent a recurrence of the fiasco that saw a nationwide Web shutdown last weekend. Presidential spokeswoman Park Sun-sook said that the president expressed regret over the incident and related government agencies promised to do their best to find the cause and take proper countermeasures. She continued the government and the agencies will together work on a prompt recovery and preventive actions. Political parties, meanwhile, berated both the government and Internet users for negligence.
