Inter-Korean Telephone Hotline Still Frozen

South Korea's calls to North Korea via the Red Cross hotline in the truce village of Panmunjeom have gone unanswered for two days now following the cancellation of an inter-Korean government-level talks.

The Unification Ministry said that South Korea’s liaison official attempted to hold a telephone conversation with the North through the hotline at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday following two calls Wednesday.

North Korea cut off the hotline in March when tensions were running high on the Korean Peninsula, but restored it last Thursday to coordinate details with the South on holding talks.
