Inter-Korean Telephone Hotline Dead for 3rd Day

South Korea's calls to North Korea via the Red Cross hotline in the truce village of Panmunjeom have gone unanswered for three days now following the cancellation of inter-Korean government-level talks.

The Unification Ministry said the South's liaison official attempted to hold a telephone conversation with the North through the hotline at 9 a.m Friday following attempts on Wednesday and Thursday.

North Korea severed the hotline in March when tensions were running high on the Korean Peninsula, but restored it last Thursday to coordinate details with the South on holding talks.
