Korea to Help Cambodia Restore Angkor Wat

South Korea will take part in the restoration and preservation of Angkor Wat, the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Cambodia.

The Cultural Heritage Administration says it will sign an agreement with the Cambodian Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap (APSARA) for Korea to help in the preservation and restoration of Preah Pithu, a group of five temples at Angkor Wat.

The administration will begin basic onsite inspections next year ahead of restoration work.

Preah Pithu was built in the 12th and 13th centuries and a considerable part of the structures are in poor condition.
