North Korea's chief nuclear negotiator Kim Kye-gwan visited the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Wednesday to discuss bilateral relations and Korean Peninsula issues.
The ministry's spokesperson said that Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui and Kim engaged in in-depth strategic talks.
The spokesperson added that Kim will meet other senior officials of the Chinese Foreign Ministry including Wu Dawei, the Chinese representative to the six-party talks, while staying in Beijing.
During the meeting, China is known to have delivered its firm stance on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula while North Korea focused on the recovery of traditional ties between the two countries.
Kim Kye-gwan last visited Beijing in February 2012 for a meeting with U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Policy Glyn Davies.
South Korea’s top nuclear negotiator Cho Tae-yong also plans to visit China and meet Wu Dawei later this week after having a three-way meeting with his counterparts from the U.S. and Japan.
