Court officials said Tuesday that the Supreme Court will soon likely turn down the suit filed by the major opposition Grand National Party (GNP) to nullify the election victory of President-elect Roh Moo-hyun with the ballot recount conducted Monday failing to show major discrepancies. In the wake of the ballot recount, Roh's votes declined by 816 while those of the GNP's Lee Hoi-chang rose by 88, the National Election Commission (NEC) said, noting such a discrepancy has no impact on the official election outcome in which Roh won 12 million votes against Lee's 11.4 million votes. The ballot recount also found 204 votes invalid and 529 votes undecided.
