Gov't Tries to Pacify Gaeseong Firms

The Unification Ministry says that it will devise measures to help South Korean companies suffering from the suspension of the Gaeseong Industrial Complex.

The ministry’s remarks came after 46 South Korean tech firms warned of removing their facilities from the inter-Korean factory park if the government doesn’t act.

A ministry official said that the government fully understands how difficult the situation is for the companies due to the three-month suspension of operations.

The official added that the government is looking for ways to provide the firms with additional assistance based on the latest survey on their losses, and it will also consult with the South Korean companies.

Instead of shutting down the last remaining inter-Korean business project, the ministry is said to have set as its aim at reviving the operation and prevent recurrence of the current business melt-down.
