South Korean companies with factories at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex have hailed North Korea’s decision to allow representatives of those companies to visit the industrial park.
A spokesman for the emergency committee of the association of Gaeseong businesses said Thursday that they positively assess the North’s latest announcement.
But the spokesman added that the South Korean companies will carry out related procedures with caution, considering previous failures to hold talks with the North.
The emergency committee will convene a meeting on Thursday and fine-tune its position on the North’s latest announcement.
Earlier on Wednesday, the committee convened an emergency meeting and called on the government to allow them to remove their humidity-sensitive machinery left behind at the complex. They also urged the government to decide whether or not it will shut down the complex after more than three months of suspended operations.
