'S. Korea's N. Korea Policy Unwavering'

A presidential official says South Korea’s policies on North Korea will remain firmly based on principles and prudence.

The official told reporters Thursday morning there will no policy change while addressing North Korea’s approval Wednesday to allow South Korean tech companies' entry into the Gaeseong Industrial Complex.

The official explained trust is the most important aspect of the South-North relationship, and though the door for inter-Korean dialogue is always open, trust can always be broken. He stressed any efforts to engage with Pyongyang will fail if trust is not kept.

The official added top officials who attended the ASEAN Regional Forum had tea with Kim Jang-soo, the chief of national security at the presidential office, late Wednesday and held discussions on the North.

President Park Geun-hye was not present at the gathering.
