South Korean companies that had operated in the suspended Gaeseong Industrial Complex have welcomed news that the two Koreas agreed to allow their visit to the factory park in the North.
Chairman Han Jae-gweon of an emergency committee of Gaeseong firms on Sunday welcomed the result of the inter-Korean working-level talks.
He said South Korean businesses will hold talks with the Unification Ministry at the earliest date and discuss details of their visit to the North. Han has also stressed that measures to prevent a complex suspension in the future must be discussed in the follow-up inter-Korean meeting scheduled on Wednesday.
Companies are preparing for their trip to the North to inspect production facilities as they form teams and set up plans.
In a 16-hour long negotiation that began on Saturday, the two Koreas decided to allow Gaeseong firm officials to inspect facilities left behind in the North and bring back raw materials from the complex. The two sides also agreed to hold more talks on issues related to the industrial park.
