N. Korea to Hold Off Talks on Family Reunions, Geumgang Tours

North Korea says it will hold off working-level meetings on organizing family reunions and reopening South Korean tours to Mount Geumgang.

The Unification Ministry said Thursday that the North notified the South via the Panmunjeom liaison office that it will put the plan on hold to focus on Gaeseong Industrial Complex issues for now as Seoul suggested Wednesday.

On Wednesday, North Korea proposed holding talks next week on the two issues, suggesting Gaeseong and Mount Geumgang as possible meeting venues. Seoul rejected the talks on the mountain resort but accepted the talks on family reunions, asking to meet instead on the South’s side of the truce village.
