S. Korean Film Wins Fukuoka Grand Prix

South Korean film, “My Papparoti,” won the Fukuoka Grand Prix 2013 at the 27th Fukuoka Asian Film Festival.

The film’s director, Yoon Jong-chan, said he never imagined his film would win the award and vowed to make more great films.

My Papparoti is the story of a vocally gifted idler who meets a music teacher. The film was released in March and drew one-point-seven million moviegoers.

The Fukuoka Asian Film Festival was established in 1987 by Japanese director Imamura Shohei. The festival celebrates independent Asian cinema.
