Gov't Signs Agreement to Boost Bike Tours

The government has teamed up with a major South Korean Internet portal to make the country more bike-friendly.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Security and Public Administration signed a deal Thursday with state-run Korean Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) and Internet portal Daum.

The four parties agreed to develop various bicycle tour programs that are safe and convenient. Some tours will be developed to connect local festivals, traditional markets and provincial tourist attractions.

They will also increase the number of trains that allow passengers to bring on their bikes. Rest areas along bike paths will also be increased.
