Gwangju Wins Bid to Host 2019 FINA Aquatics Championships

South Korea's southwestern city of Gwangju has been named to host the 2019 FINA World Aquatics Championships.

The decision was made at the FINA Bureau Meeting in Barcelona on Friday as the 22-member judging panel picked the South Korean city without a vote.

Hungary's Budapest won its bid for the 2021 event as it aimed for hosting either one of the games in 2019 or 2021.

Located around 330 kilometers south of Seoul, Gwangju will also host the 2015 Summer Universiade.

Kazan, Russia, will host the 2015 championships.
