'Snowpiercer' Draws 1 Mn Viewers in 2 Days

"Snowpiercer," the sci-fi thriller by Korean director Bong Joon-ho, has topped one million moviegoers in just two days since its release.

The movie drew 600-thousand viewers on Thursday, which helped the film see a cumulative total of over one million spectators in the two day span.

For a weekday performance, two days is the shortest record set in Korea for a movie to top the one million ticket sales mark. It took three days for the domestic film "The Thieves" last year to reach that milestone and four days for the 2006 blockbuster monster film "The Host," which was also directed by Bong Joon-ho.

The distributor of Snowpiercer expects ticket sales to exceed two million by this weekend.

The movie is director Bong's first English-language production.
