South Korea’s Unification Ministry says North Korea did not issue any particular response to the South’s final offer for talks when liaison officials at the truce village of Panmunjeom made contact at 4 p.m. Friday.
Earlier on Friday, ministry deputy spokeswoman Park Soo-jin said that the government is refraining from making any judgments as to the reasons behind the lack of response by North Korea.
Park said that nothing has been decided as of yet and that it is not a time to discuss when the deadline for South Korea to follow through with a “grave decision” will be, which was mentioned by Unification Minister Ryoo Khil-jae on Sunday.
Seoul proposed to Pyongyang on Monday that the two Koreas hold a seventh round of talks to resume the stalled operations at inter-Korean industrial complex at Gaeseong.
In an emergency news conference held the previous day, the minister proposed what he said would be the “last offer” for talks on reopening the complex, urging the North to return to the table.
