Gaeseong Firms Urge Koreas to Agree to Complex Normalization

South Korean firms based at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex have urged South and North Korean authorities reach an agreement to normalize the joint business park by all means during their seventh round of talks on the issue on Wednesday.

The committee of Gaeseong firms held a news conference on Tuesday during which they said the two sides should agree to guarantee stable corporate activities at the complex by promising, with no strings attached, to prevent the recurrence of a future shutdown.

It also urged maintenance workforce be allowed to visit the complex to check the companies' facilities there to expedite the resumption of operations.

The committee also asked for cooperation and support from the media and the South Korean people to help the two sides successfully reach an agreement.
