Seven out of ten school buildings in South Korea's capital city are found to be vulnerable to earthquakes as they are not built quake-proof or reinforcement work hasn't been done.

The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education says that as of June, only 24 percent or 692 of the 29-hundred school buildings in Seoul were safe from earthquakes. The remaining 22-hundred buildings required reinforcement construction.

The quake-proof percentage for public facilities nationwide stands higher at 38 percent.

The Seoul education office planned anti-quake construction on 33 school buildings this year but only one location has been completed due to budget cuts.
