Red Cross to Provide Aid to N. Korea Flood Victims through IFRC

South Korea’s Red Cross will provide assistance to North Korean flood victims through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

The South Korean Red Cross said Friday that it decided to provide 100-thousand U.S. dollars needed to purchase relief supplies after the IFRC recently requested that the South Korean Red Cross take part in efforts to help North Korean victims.

Twenty-eight people are estimated to have died and two were injured due to recent floods and landslides in the North. Eighteen people went missing and some 49-thousand people lost their homes.

South Korea’s Red Cross also provided 100-thousand dollars for North Korean flood victims through the IFRC last year.
