Communications and Power Inspection Team Checks Facilities in Gaeseong

Following the inter-Korean agreement to reopen the Gaeseong Industrial Complex, a South Korean communications and power inspection team has entered the factory park to perform a facilities check.

The team of 30 officials from KT, Korea Electric Power Corporation, Korea Water Resources Corporation and the Gaeseong Industrial District Management Committee arrived at the complex on Saturday morning and is checking the condition of facilities which have been out of use for more than four months.

The officials plan to return to South Korea at around five p.m. on Saturday. Another group of 34 officials including waste disposal experts will visit the complex again on Monday.

A government official said that once the facilities inspection is complete, the government will allow officials of the firms based in Gaeseong to cross the border as well so they can prepare for the reopening of the factory park.
