South's Tour Operator Hopes for Geumgang Tour Resumption

South Korea's Hyundai Asan has welcomed North Korea's proposal for talks on resuming the South's tour program to the North's Mount Geumgang resort.

The South Korean tour operator of the suspended tour program to the North Korean resort issued a statement on Sunday, and welcomed the proposal.

The company expressed hope that Geumgang tours, suspended for five years, would be swiftly resumed.

On August third, Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun visited the scenic mountain resort in the North to hold a memorial service for her late husband Chung Mong-hun. During the visit, Hyundai officials looked around the hotel and tour facilities at Mount Geumgang.

North Korea on Sunday accepted inter-Korean working-level talks to arrange family reunions between the two Koreas, and in addition, proposed talks on reopening Geumgang tours.
