Experts to Inspect Namhan Fortress for UNESCO Heritage List

The International Council on Monuments and Sites will send an expert team to South Korea next month to carry out an on-site inspection on Namhan Fortress before UNESCO makes a decision on whether to add the South Korean historical site to its World Cultural Heritage list.

The council said Monday that the on-site inspection will take place from September first to the fifth.

Based on the results of the inspection, the council will submit a report to UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee.

If the council gives its endorsement, it is highly likely Namhan Fortress will be added to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list.
